Improve Ranking on Google Local - 62 Views
December 12, 2009

There are many key factors in ranking with Google Local but one of the most important keys is this listing builds trust in the information that search engines have about a business. Claiming a business listing is a must in claiming key search words locally. Here is a list of Key Factors:

1) The search is highly dependent on your physical location, industry and keyword. For example search for Sushi Toronto will most notably bring up only Toronto locations and those closest to the Toronto Centre. Google will pull from other locations only when there are not enough services to fill the slots.

2) Adding a product or keyword into the product title tends to drive results but the words need to be relevant

3) Keywords in business description is important but not as key as in the title. A well crafted descriptive summary highlights with relevant keywords will greatly enhance rank.

4) In the telephone box use the local area code not a 1-800 number. The 1-800 number will likely provide a negative rank overall.

5) Adding photos and videos. Adding additional references is not the most important factor but helps provide valuable references and helps rank over other who have not added these attributes to their profiles.

6) Multiple listings in different cities. Can negatively score you especially if you do not have a local verifiable phone number. If you do this ensure the number is different - a negative huge hit if the number is the same.

7) Multiple Reviews. Companies with reviews from third parties can effect the ranking buy providing true third party relevant information. Reviews are especially important with a rating of above 3 stars.
